WATCH OUT! DANGEROUS KITTEN HIDING PLACES

Kittens and cats love to hide. A cat can find a good spot and disappear for days, causing you to panic, and then kinda wander out of a drawer in the closet and yawn like nothing is wrong. Kittens love the hiding game, especially when they first get to a new home.

Most hiding spots are just little places behind books, in sock drawers and laundry baskets, in piles of junk you haven't put away for a million years. But some hiding places are really dangerous and you need to know about them. Here's a list of the most common:

1. car engines and wheel wells

2. refrigerators

3. ovens/that drawer thing underneath

4. washing and drying machines (I just found one of my kittens asleep in the washing machine before I started it up. Thank god I always check before doing the laundry!)

5. air conditioning units (the free-standing kind with a fan inside. Have had more than one kitten get in mine.)

6. anything else that resembles a box and has a hole big enough to crawl in

So always check before you turn on appliances! And don't freak out too much if your new kitten or cat disappears inside the house for a while :)
